When it comes to baby products, moms often find themselves with more than they’ll ever need. What many don’t know is that most of these products have other uses over-and-above keeping baby healthy.
“It is hard to believe that what we use to look after our baby can have a different use that isn’t baby related at all. Baby products tend to pile up after baby showers, or when a new item comes on the market that every mom needs to try out,” explains Mario Correia, brand manager for sterilising product Milton. “But don’t stockpile or throw away those forgotten items, rather put them to good use, and use them around the house in unexpected ways.”
Next time you think about cleaning out your baby products, consider the below and see what you can use them for:
Corn starch baby powder:
As baby powder is used to get rid of odours, try and use it to get rid of foot odours in shoes.
Oily hair can be very expensive if you are washing it over and over. Simply sprinkle some corn starch baby powder on your hair and brush it through.
Freshen up your carpet and upholstery by sprinkling powder on and leave it for five minutes to absorb any odours. Vacuum up afterwards.
Baby wipes:
A versatile product when it comes to cleaning but looking beyond the cleaning of baby’s face and hands, you can also clean jewellery and even your pup’s paws when he steps in something stinky. They are made to deal with soiled messes.
They also make a great makeup remover, and as a baby product are gentle on your skin.
Milton sterilising fluid and tablets:
As a sterilising fluid, Milton can be used to sterilise various non-bleach sensitive surfaces around the house such as doorknobs, staircases, dustbins etc. This is a great way to keep all household items clean and germ free.
To prevent mould and mildew build up on your shower head, handles and doors in your bathroom use Milton Fluid to wash them.
Baby shampoo:
Not only useful for cleaning baby’s hair, but for cleaning your delicates and handwash only items. It is formulated to be delicate on baby, and this will carry over to your items as well.
Empty baby jars:
Don’t recycle baby jars, rather upcycle them. They are great size for items such as herbs and flavourings in the kitchen, while in the garage they can be used to keep bolts, screws etc. They are small, and easy to stack.
Baby nappy rash cream:
This is a great night-time treatment for drying out pimples, getting rid of itchiness and to help with bug-bite inflammation.
Now, when you find those left-over baby products in your bathroom cupboard or in your child’s bedroom rather put them to good use, than adding them to the trash.
