MITSUBISHI MOTORS SOUTH AFRICA in Partnership with SANZAAR Rugby Referees Jaco Peyper, Rasta Rashivenga and Junior Springbok assistant coach Bafana Nhleko embarked on community feeding projects over the last week. Our aim was to reach community members in need of a small food parcel during this time. “A small donation from us can make a world of difference to families in need. Especially when children can go to sleep on full tummies”, commented Nic Campbell, General Manager for Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.

The two projects we concentrated on were “The Pebbles Project” in partnership with L’Avenir Wine Estate, to deliver food parcels to the local farmworkers who have been unable to work during this time. “It is a project close to our hearts and we enjoy a great relationship with SANZAAR and the Pebbles Project. We roped Mitsubishi in to be our ‘wheels’ and we got to work”, said Peyper. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown and Mitsubishi Motors dealerships being closed as a result, Bafana offered his Mitsubishi ASX Sport to be used as the delivery vehicle for the project.

L’Avenir, supported by Mitsubishi Motors SA and SANZAAR, has partnered with Pebbles Project to ensure that our people are safe, healthy, and nourished during these challenging times.

The L’Avenir farm worker community are receiving special meal parcels during the lockdown. In addition, the families still have access to proper health services through Pebbles Project’s mobile clinics.

“The food parcels are delivered by Mitsubishi Motors SA to the families at L’Avenir, ensuring that 56 adults and children receive nutritious meals” explained Naretha RICOME, MD for L’Avenir.

Secondly, the Rainbow Republic Rugby Program embarked on feeding local residents in informal settlements around Hout Bay, many of whom allow their children to participate in our Rugby program commented Rasta Rashivenga.

Rasta contacted Paul from the OK Mini Market in Hout Bay who has made an incredible contribution to both projects by supplying us with food parcels to deliver. “You get a great sense of community and pride when you see members from different business areas coming together in a difficult situation for the good of others. We at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa are extremely honoured and humbled to be part of these projects”, said Campbell.
