What work do you do?
I currently serve as the New Product Development Manager at Debonairs Pizza.
How long have you been in the industry?
I embarked on my journey in the hospitality industry back in 2009. I’ve had the privilege of working abroad and returned to South Africa in 2016. In 2019, I joined Famous Brands as the New Product Development Manager.
Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why.
Absolutely! Food has a special place in my heart, from crafting recipes to savouring every bite. It’s a way for me to share a part of myself with those who enjoy my creations. Every day, I’m fortunate to be part of various celebrations and occasions where our customers choose our pizzas.
Being a woman in the industry – what does it take?
To thrive in this industry, it takes agility, integrity, relentless hard work, a continuous thirst for learning, and the ability to have fun along the way.
What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?
Overcoming my discomfort with public speaking and gaining support for my work has been a significant challenge, but I’ve invested time in improving this aspect. Now, I’m more confident than ever when presenting to a larger audience.
What advice do you have for other women in your industry?
My advice is to always embrace feedback. There’s something valuable to learn in every piece of feedback you receive. Keep an open mind and be willing to accept it.
Plans for the future?
My goal is to be the best in both my personal and professional life. I’m excited to witness the impact of my work at Debonairs Pizza and see how it continues to evolve.
