1. Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a qualified chartered accountant, born and bred in Cape Town. I studied Business Science Finance Honours at UCT and went on to do my accounting articles in the financial services department at KPMG. I am married with two wonderful girls that keep me very busy outside of work. When I am not at work, I love reading, art and have been known to get stuck into the garden. I am also a closest gym bunny who loves strength training. I currently work at Prescient Fund Services and thrive on the different challenges my role provides me everyday.

2. What work do you do?

CEO for the Prescient Management Company.

3. How long have you been in the industry?

16 years including articles at KPMG.

4. Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why?

Yes, I have loved working in various different areas in the financial services industry. I’m passionate about collective investment schemes and partnering with fund managers to offer solutions to meet their clients’ investment needs.

5. Being a women in the industry – what does it take?

Confidence to speak up in a fairly male dominated industry. I feel women add such an interesting and often softer perspective to situations and we definitely deserve our seat at the table.

6. What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?

Navigating being a new mother and working full time was tough in the beginning.

7. What advice do you have for other women in your industry?

My advice for young women entering the finance industry. Find yourself a mentor early on in your career, someone that can guide and support you. A mentor can provide valuable insights, advice, and connections that can be instrumental in your career growth. Be confident, believe in yourself and your abilities. Confidence is key, especially in a male-dominated industry. Speak up, share your ideas, and don’t be afraid to take on challenges!

8. Plans for the future?

Being new in my role I plan on focusing on the new challenges this brings. Prescient’s new ETF offering is really exciting and I plan on spending a great deal of time focusing on this.
