1.       Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am a passionate, purpose-driven young woman, who loves reading, hiking, dancing (badly), and drinking copious amounts of tea. Apart from my work endeavours, I am also completing my law degree, and relish being able to make meaningful connections and drive change.

2.       What work do you do?

I am a TV and Radio presenter, voice-over artist, MC, and model actress with a passion for communication and making a positive impact.

3.       How long have you been in the industry?

I applied at the campus/station while studying at Stellenbosch University in 2015, which began my journey and led to my being scouted by Kfm 94.5. the number one commercial station in Cape Town. I can scarcely believe it, but it has been a wonderful, action-packed 9 years this year!

4.       Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why.

My work and career came as huge surprises to me! I planned to practise law and I had always thought I would venture into talk radio much later in life, but God had other plans. During my schooling years, I was quite involved in cultural activities like public speaking, drama, and debating, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Little did I know I was creating a foundation from which to build my broadcasting career. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn in this industry and feed my passions while putting my unique gifts and talent to good use.

5.       Being a woman in the industry – what does it take?

A lot of hard work! This includes the self-work of building inner confidence and self-esteem, knowing yourself, being comfortable in your skin, and being unapologetically yourself. I have learned that standing in your authenticity and uniqueness stands you in good stead. It takes hard work, sacrifice, and mental fortitude to keep going, even when the answer you will get many times is “no”. It just takes that one “yes”.

6.       What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?

When I was younger I always felt there was a lack of adequate mentorship, or a “guide-book “of sorts when it comes to navigating the industry. It has very much been a ‘learn-as-you-go’ experience, while also not being afraid to reach out to women who have travelled the same path for their wisdom and insights. There is always a lot of pressure, as well as comparison, but as the saying goes, it is the thief of joy.  Being stuck in a place of wondering whether you are enough robs you of uncovering even deeper parts of yourself and your talents and gifts. And the truth is, you always are enough.

7.       What advice do you have for other women in your industry?

As women, we tend to shrink ourselves and downplay our achievements, our work, and even our needs. So I believe this to be the starting point from which to learn to speak up for yourself and your work and be brave in pursuing even greater opportunities. The reality is, no one will do it for you. Don’t ever feel that you need to show up as someone else, or in a way that is not uniquely YOU. Find your voice. Take up space.

8.       Plans for the future?

I plan to continue growing and learning while building up my new radio show and truly creating something I can be proud of, which makes a difference in people’s lives. I look forward to doing more meaningful work within the women’s empowerment space and using my voice for good. I will also be hitting your TV screens very soon and I absolutely cannot wait!
