‘I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour’
If you’re reading this then you’re probably quite similar to me in the way that black clothing dominates your wardrobe and you take approx. three times longer than the average human to find something in there because everything (literally) looks the same.
But LBH, wearing all-black is boss. I mean, there’s a reason why people tend to throw the phrase ‘…is the new black’ around, why a wedding isn’t themed ‘pink tie’ and why the LBD was dubbed iconic by Coco Chanel in the 20s.
It’s because this inky hue, for a few reasons I’ll get to shortly, has been a fashion favourite throughout history! So, why do we so often head for our fave black jeans, tee or boots time and time again? Scroll down to read why the colour has our heart (yes, it is so a colour) and then shop my favourite all-black pieces circulating the internet.
Here Are 7 Reasons Why You Always Wear Black:
1 It’s a Flattering Colour
Come on, who doesn’t want to wear a colour that flatters their physique and gives off a subtle-yet-super-chic vibe? You’re wearing black because it makes you look good and you’re looking good because you’re wearing black, kinda’ thing.
2 It Evokes POWER
It’s a colour that is taken seriously and one that, according to psychologists, is an indicator of power, seriousness and intelligence. Subconsciously, you’re more than likely taking this in to account during the daily dress-up.
3 Because, Morning Brain
Okay. So, when you wake up in the morning, unless you’ve been super strategic and pre-planned your outfit the day before (an ideal world), something in black is just the easiest thing to put on because either way, it always just ‘works’.
4 It Goes With Anything
It literally does. A blank canvas for any look out there – the colour black. But don’t forget about all the different shades that it comes in, guys. There’s black-black, grey-black, dull-black, jet-black, etc.
5 It Makes a Statement
Hell yeah, it does. There’s nothing like a striking LBD or a black suit set to communicate who’s boss. Plus, everyone looks good in it too.
6 It Will Never Go Out Of Style
It’s possibly the most timeless hue out there. It will never fade away (literally) and will always be considered cool. ‘Does this come in black?’ – sound familiar?
7 Because Karl Lagerfeld Said So
‘One is never over-or-under dressed with a LBD’ and ‘Black, like white, is the best colour’ – enough said.
