1. Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a graphic designer by profession and studied BCom Marketing Management. I have always been passionate about marketing, especially e-commerce.
2. What work do you do?
I manage all marketing for BooYaa Golf both locally and internationally. This includes social media management and overseas expansions into countries like the US, Germany, and the Philippines. I also handle Web site building and maintenance.
3. How long have you been in the industry?
I started my own company in 2010, so I’ve been in the industry for 14 years. I have been working at BooYaa Golf for the past two years, since January 2022.
4. Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why.
I’ve always loved working with computers, and I consider myself very creative. Marketing and digital work are my passions, so it doesn’t feel like a job to me. Every day is exciting because digital marketing is constantly evolving. This keeps the work fresh and dynamic.
5. Being a woman in the industry – what does it take?
It requires strong time management so that work and personal time don’t overlap. Discipline and self-management are key. As a woman marketing to a predominantly male audience, I often ask myself, “What would my husband like and do?” and use that perspective to guide my strategies. Knowledge is power, so I focus on upskilling myself and learning about the golf industry to better understand the market.
6. What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?
Not having enough time to learn more. I would love to attend more seminars, watch tutorials, conduct market research, and stay up to date on developments in AI to expand my knowledge further.
7. What advice do you have for other women in your industry?
Upskill yourself consistently and strive to be the smartest person in the room. Stay informed about what’s happening around you so you can participate in meaningful conversations. Avoid focusing solely on marketing—expand your general knowledge.
8. Who inspires you in your industry?
I don’t have a specific individual who inspires me; I am brand-driven. I admire what brands like Apple do, from their packaging to their product launches and the quality of the products themselves. In the apparel space, I like brands such as Freedom of Movement.
9. What’s the best advice or key learnings you’ve received from your industry peers?
Work smart, not hard. Communication is crucial, especially between departments. Always ask questions and seek clarity when needed.
10. What is your leadership style?
I lead by example. I believe leadership means people follow you because they want to, not because they have to. I focus on being a role model, avoid micromanaging, and prefer to guide and help my team succeed.
11. Have you experienced failure in your career? If so, what lessons did you learn?
Who hasn’t? Failure is inevitable, but I’ve always found a solution. I’ve learned that failures can quickly be turned into positive outcomes with the right mindset and approach.
12. What are your plans for the future?
I want to work on achieving a better work-life balance and develop a strong team under me so that I can delegate more effectively. I’m proud of the online growth I’ve achieved in just one year, and I aim to continue building my knowledge and expanding our online presence. The significant growth in our digital platforms shows me that my efforts are yielding results.
