Tell us a bit about yourself?
Nombulelo Metuse is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with two master degrees in Plastic Surgery( University of Pretoria & CMSA). I am very passionate about cosmetic surgeries simply because of my passion for image and beauty. I believe your image is an extension of your inner self make sure you are well represented and happy about your outward look.
I was born in Welkom ( Free state) then raised by a single mother in Eastern Cape. I’m from humble beginnings my mother was a domestic worker we didn’t have a home. My break through came when the military personnel came to my high school offering us a bursary, that’s how I got funding for my undergraduate studies. With my allowance I was able to take care of my family. I am a soldier ( rank Major) in the military I will forever be grateful. I honor GOD for all my accomplishments HE IS MY SOURCE and GRATITUDE is my superpower.
How long have you been in the industry?
I have just over 12 years of experience.
Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why?
My work has always been my passion because we do not know what is in your heart and mind, at first people receive you based on your image or outward look, your image is your brand invest in it.
Being a woman in the industry – what does it take?
As a mother, wife, daughter, friend colleague I struggled with achieving a balance to nature all these relationships. I had to create a 25th hour because being a successful Plastic Surgeon is not enough when it’s at the expense of my other relationships. I created the 25th hour by integrating work and my social life: work with my friends and family, sometimes quality time at home means we work together. TOGETHER WE CAN DO MORE.
What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?
The most challenging thing was to ask and accept help because I’m a perfectionist, I used to believe no one can build my business like I would, as my practice grew I had to learn to outsource, learn the value of specialist so that I can have more time and focus at my craft and creativity.
What advice do you have for other women in your industry?
Do not be afraid to be different, break boundaries, if it can’t be you who will? You are enough, there are no limits when you live from inside. Stop over thinking it. You do not have to figure it all out from the beginning move toward your steps will amplify and gain momentum with movement.
Plans for the future?
I have my skin care range that currently focuses on anti-aging, hyperpigmentation and skin brightening products. I’m working on building a cosmetic empire.

Mommy Makeover Specialist
For those who are feeling a little less than their pre-baby selves, Doctor Nombulelo Metuse has a particular affinity for helping patients who would like a Mommy Makeover. The term ‘Mommy Makeover’ is used to describe a set of surgical procedures which are carried out concurrently intended to enhance the appearance of the body parts most significantly impacted by childbearing. Each patient Mommy Makeover would obviously be specifically tailored to their needs, and may include a breast lift, reduction or augmentation; perhaps a tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty), liposuction or thigh / arms lift (Brachioplasty). All these procedures are available to correct body changes due to pregnancy weight gain.
Doctor Nombulelo Metuse believes that the primary goal of plastic surgery is to mimic normal function and look for tissue and skin as closely as possible. Cosmetic surgery to attain what patients believe to be a more desirable look, has been proven to have a positive impact on mental health and, when done correctly after patients have made informed decisions, can be an effective tool for improving self-esteem and confidence.
With rooms in the @Sandton Lifestyle Hotel Medical & Surgical Suites, patients have the option of checking into the hotel for the duration of their recuperation. By doing so, they may take advantage of the hotel’s amenities, which results in a distinctive fusion of wellness, holistic relaxation, and aesthetic beauty.
