1. Tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and bred in Soweto and come from a family of 7 kids and am the second last born. What I do outside of work often is writing poetry and music and I also sing. I have been privileged to travel the world through music. I also have the ability of speaking 10 of the 11 South African languages apart from Ndebele. In my spare time, I like the outdoors and trying new adventures. I love being intentional with community outreach whether be it volunteering with my time, giving to the needy or mentoring and coaching others.

2. What work do you do?

What I do tends to feel like “miracle working” at times hahaha just kidding. I am passionately in the human resource field in the role of Head of People.

3. How long have you been in the industry?

I have at least 12 years working experience in partnering with businesses.

4. Has your work always been your passion? Tell us why?

Yes, without a doubt. I have a strong commercial academic background and somehow landed in a field that aligns best with who I am in character. I love what I do as there is purpose attached to it and the HR model presents lots of opportunities to do meaningful work.

5. Being a woman in the industry – what does it take?

It takes a lot of purpose, passion, authenticity, courage and hard work to make a difference. I always aim at paying it forward as I do not believe in being self-made, so I also strive to make a difference one person at a time.

6. What has been the most difficult challenge of your career?

Having my values challenged and making a bold decision to stay in character. The one thing that we have as human beings is our character and that is what you will always take with you wherever you go.

7. What advice do you have for other women in your industry?

That women must be intentional in mentoring others whilst supporting one another. There is always an opportunity to collaborate and learn from others whilst we contribute in shaping the future of our country. There is a lot of support from the HR community depending on how and whom one connects with.

8. Plans for the future?

I look forward to a meaningful and purpose-driven journey.

To make an impact towards the education industry in supporting our organisational goals which help in shaping society. My current position provides me with valuable experience which I believe is sufficient to achieve my long-term career goals. The end goal is to strategically support the business and employees as they best support our stakeholders.
