South Africa’s glorious summer is here, and so are our delicious, locally grown avocados! Because let’s be honest: the only thing better than sunshine and long, lazy days is a summer filled with the creamy, dreamy taste of South African avos.
We’re spoiled for choice in Mzansi, with avocados available for most of the year thanks to our dedicated farmers who cultivate both green-skinned and dark-skinned varieties. This means we enjoy an almost year-round supply of these versatile, nutritious, and slightly addictive fruits. While the peak of South Africa’s avocado season has passed, a few regions are still harvesting, so you will still find fresh, locally grown avos.
Whether smooth and green or rugged and dark, all avos share one thing in common – they’re incredibly tasty and nutritious. And when it comes to culinary creativity, avocados are the ultimate all-rounders. Think beverages, starters, light meals, mains, bakes, and even desserts. Yes, desserts!
This summer, why not whip up a showstopper with a couple of cool and creamy avocado-based treats? From refreshing avocado smoothies to indulgent peppermint avo ice cream, the possibilities are endless.
Whether you’re poolside chilling, beach-bound, or firing up the braai, make sure to add an avo to your sunny season spread. Include them in salads, sandwiches, or your favourite desserts, and savour the taste of summer the South African way.
