1. What inspired you to embark on this extended wellness journey now, and why is it important to you?
I guess I have never been a person to voice that I’m on a wellness journey but since I was a child I did lots of sports/dance in school and when I got into my teens I joined the gym so this was always a part of my life and for as long as I can remember high protein and veg meals were a big thing at home.
2. How has your understanding of wellness evolved over the years, especially as a woman in the entertainment industry?
It actually hasn’t evolved that much Im still a high protein and veg girl I’m still in the gym what has happened is learning how to adjust to accommodate my body changing and the “bounce back” not being immediate and being ok with that and loving my body in all stages, I have also put my mental, spiritual wellness right up there with the physical in regards to making sure I am doing well.
3. Were there any defining moments that made you realize it was time to prioritize your well-being?
As I have mentioned, this is something that started when I was young, and as a child, you pick up your parents’ eating habits, and my mom was very healthy and she was very active when she was in school, so it was the same for me.
4. What does “wellness” mean to you beyond the physical, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually?
No, this life chose me 😂
5. Have there been any unexpected challenges since beginning this journey, and how have you overcome them?
Its challenging all the time 😂 who wouldn’t want to just eat whatever and still have a healthy body having to check in mentally and spiritually also isn’t always easy as it sometimes requires hard conversations with ones self, you have to be stubborn in wanting the best for yourself its knowing something is going to be hard and doing it anyway because you know the reward at the end.
6. How do you balance your career as an actress with your personal wellness goals?
I think my wellness goals and my career go hand in hand. When I am at work, I want to feel and look my best, so if I take care of myself, that’s half the job done
7. Are there specific wellness practices or rituals that have become non-negotiable in your daily routine?
I have to go to the gym
8. Women often carry emotional labor for others. How have you learned to set boundaries and care for yourself first?
😂 People have said it’s my star sign, but I think it’s the women who raised me, and just going through life and learning what you can take and what you can’t, and that’s a great way to set boundaries, you know, in the plane they say put your oxygen mask on first, do that in life as well.
9. What role does community or sisterhood play in your wellness journey?
It just motivates you, keeps you going, some may say I’m a bully in the gym 😅 but that’s cos I know you can do it.
10. As a public figure, how do you handle societal expectations around beauty, success, and self-care?
I don’t want to say I don’t care, but if you are not an important person in my life, your expectations of me aren’t really high on my list of priorities. What is “in” changes every 2 weeks; no one should want to keep up with that. Care literally starts with YOU.
11. What advice would you give to other women who feel guilty or hesitant about investing time in their own well-being?
Don’t ever feel guilty for wanting to do something for yourself. It will make you happier, and to feel good about yourself and the people around you will see that, and it will make them happy, and that will make you feel even happier, and then the people around you will be happier… just looks like a bunch of happiness for everyone.
12. Looking ahead, how do you hope your journey will impact or inspire other women?
I just want you to do something for yourself(multiple somethings) that is just about you that makes you happy that keeps you alive and healthy, it’s your first and only time on this earth. Please have a good time, my baby.
