1. Can you please tell us more about your business?
A. ISU ENGINEERING PTY LTD is a well established construction company based in KZN Pietermaritzburg, specilailizing mainly in Government Jobs. Civil and building infrastructure projects.
2. When, how and why did you start your business?
A. I started my business in 2017, where I was assisting different people in the construction industry to price and fill tender documents.
3. What is your role in the business?
A. I perform daily site/office work activities like everyone else in the company while overseeing their work.
4. Where did you study and what did you study?
A. I studied at Mangosuthu University of Technology, Durban University of Technology, and Textila University ( Bachelors degree in construction management and MBA project Management).
5. How did you finance your business?
A. I resigned from my job and used funds I got from my provident fund.
6. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists.
A. Most of the day is spent on my computer working , meet clients to discuss continuation of projects and managing staff.
7. How do you balance your home life and your work life?
A. I prioritize and set hours for work and for my home or personal life.
8. What drives you and inspires you?
A. Making a difference in the world as a woman in the space of a male dominated industry.
9. Where and when do you have your best ideas?
A. Activities like playing golf, and travelling bring about my best ideas.
10. Where and how do you market/advertise your business for sales leads?
A. When I’m given an opportunity I excel and give the best, I bid/apply like everyone else.
11. What is next for your business?
A. To identify new opportunities outside the province and overseas.
12. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?
A. Show passion in what you do and be honest with yourself and customers/clients, network with other women-owned successful businesses.
