1. Can you please tell us more about your business?

A. Luxo Emporium is a luxurious fragrance brand.

2. When, how and why did you start your business?

A. I started my business in May 2021. It all started with a conversation I had with my sister and mother. They were suggesting that I started selling perfumes and after that- I never looked back. Started with my research, saving, and executed my plans in a space of 2 months. Luxo was created because I have been longing for financial freedom, independence and helping women feel confident by smelling good in my fragrances.

3. What is your role in the business?

A. My role is selling my products, marketing my products, and delivering my products.

4. Where did you study and what did you study?

A. I am currently studying Marketing at The University Of Johannesburg.

5. How did you finance your business?

A. My supportive family helped me fund my business. It was not easy because I’m a spender, I love shopping so I decided to prioritize my goal.

6. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists?

A. I’m up at 6 am, going through the internet, 8 am out of the house making deliveries and by 16:00 I’m done with work, now I focus on my school work. I’m finding it really hard to balance my work life and home life, especially because I recently started my business. By the time I get home, I’m super exhausted. I don’t get the time to bond with my family during the week but I definitely make up for it on the weekend.

7. What drives you and inspires you?

A. I’m driven by my ambition and hunger for success. I know what I want in life and every day I wake up and work towards that. My mother inspires me. She is a strong and independent woman. I’ve seen her in different stages in her life. Her resilience and eagerness to keep going is truly inspirational.

8. Where and when do you have your best ideas?

A. I have my best ideas when I’m driving.

9. Where and how do you market/ advertise your business for sales leads?

A. I market on social media, mainly Instagram. I send messages to potential clients telling them about my fragrances and so far, it’s working like a charm.

10.  What is next for your business?

A. Making my products easily accessible and providing more solutions to individuals.

11. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?

A. Never give up. Do what makes you happy. It will not be easy. People will talk and judge you. You are destined for greatness. You will make it. Put in the work.
