1. Can you please tell us more about your business?

A. Ubuntu Invest is a licensed and regulated derivatives brokerage, providing trading platforms for retail investors. In simple terms, we help the average consumer make money from the stock market using our mobile app and trading resources.

2. When, how and why did you start your business?

A. Following the stock market crash last year, I made the decision to start a new company, one that can provide solutions during a time of quarantine. With the increase in retail investors, we decided to introduce a user-friendly trading app where anyone can buy and sell various asset classes like stocks, cryptocurrencies, and commodities.

3. What is your role in the business?

A. I’m the founder and CEO.

4. Where did you study and what did you study?

A. I studied at the University of Johannesburg and I’m currently preparing to do my MBA.

5. How did you finance your business?

A. As a serial entrepreneur, I’ve always been resourceful with regard to raising capital. I’m a firm believer in saving for future expansion as opposed to seeking debt finance.

6. Describe your average workday, if such a thing exists?

A. I’m always up by 6 am and I start the day by praying and setting my intentions for the day ahead. I prefer working out in the afternoon so my mornings are generally simple: coffee, get ready, and go to the office. If I’m not preparing for a media interview then I’m in meetings with management and our partners to ensure the company is moving in the right direction.

7. How do you balance your home life and your work life?

A. I’m quite a workaholic and perfectionist but I had to start prioritising a much healthier and balanced lifestyle. I workout 3 times a week, I eat healthily and as of recent, I’ve stopped taking work home. This allows me to relax in the evenings and take care of the other aspects of my life.

8. What drives you and inspires you?

A. The ability to wake up each day is a big drive for me, it affords me the opportunity to be better and greater than yesterday. I’m equally inspired by different challenges that I’m faced with on a daily basis and the thrill of not stopping until I find credible and profitable solutions.

9. Where and when do you have your best ideas?

A. My best ideas usually come to life at night or early in the morning, so that’s why it’s very important for me to get up before everyone else and be centered in my own thoughts. I’m a sucker for upbeat high energy music, so on my way to work, I pump my music out loud to get the creative juices going.

10. Where and how do you market/ advertise your business for sales leads?

A. I’m in between social media and traditional media platforms. For me, it’s less about sales and more about the number of people I can inspire. My purpose is to get people excited about the markets and afford them the platform to be part of the global economy.

11. What is next for your business?

A. Ubuntu Invest is growing in leaps and bounds and I’m incredibly proud of my team. We’re so excited to launch our trading resources portal where anyone can learn how to trade and invest in the stock market for free. You can access our exclusive educational platform by visiting our website www.Ubuntuinvest.com

12. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?

A. I believe starting a business requires one to fully understand the power of discipline and patience. All successful female entrepreneurs aren’t short of these characteristics. Start where you are, with what you have and what you know but as you progress, give back, open doors for others, and always strive for new heights.
