1. Can you tell us more about your business?

A. THE HEALING ROOM provides a safe and trusted space where your challenges, be it personal, family, career, or business, are resolved in the most timely and cost-effective way possible. Our mission is to assist people to realign with their true, authentic selves so that they can be present in their natural flow, knowing their life’s purpose and passion. Thereby, bringing about inner balance, clear positive headspace, wealth, and happiness so they can abundantly live each moment to its fullest potential.  We do this through private sessions, online group sessions, and workshops.

2. When, how and why did you start your business?

A. I started  The Healing Room about 5 years ago because I wanted to create a business that was serving the community, supporting them in becoming 5.0 citizens and making a positive difference as to how they experienced their lives.  I had spent 20 years building my company Cigar Clothing into a national brand only to wake up one day and realize that it was not where my heart was. I was not waking up inspired and excited to go to work. I was spending 9 hrs a day at my factory, missing my children growing up and I was not even enjoying myself. A very good reason to stop what I was doing and get back into the flow and I am in flow when I am supporting people in reconnecting with their authentic selves so they find their purpose and live lives that they love.

3. What is your role in the business?

A. I am the owner.

4. Where did you study and what did you study?

A. 32 years ago I studied marketing and sales at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and since then I have done at least one course a year covering a wide range of areas but mainly my studies are in healing, health, quantum physics, and business.

5. How did you finance your business?

A. I have always saved and then financed my own business ventures.

6. Describe your average workday? if such a thing exists.

A. I am up at 6 am and then I pretty much have a  full working day till 6 pm. I break the day up into sections so that throughout the day  I am always in flow with my natural energy, doing my most important tasks in the morning when my energy and focus are at optimum.

7. How do you balance your home and work life?

A. My children have finished school so it is much easier to have more balance as I have more time but working from home does have its drawbacks as you need to be really disciplined not to go and check the inbox and work when you are meant to be chillaxing.  I make sure that one day a week, normally Sunday I do absolutely no work as resting and having fun are an important component to staying fresh and on your game.

8. What drives you and inspires you?

A. Helping people feel better about themselves. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing someone start valuing themselves and start loving themselves. It is like seeing a light go on inside them.

9. Where and when do you have your best ideas?

A. In the early hours of the morning before I get up.

10. Where and how do you market your business for sales leads?

A. I believe in building solid relationships so every week I go to a  networking event that my target market or potential entrepreneurs that I could collaborate with would attend and look for opportunities where I can support others in their growth.  I believe in giving first, building trust and credibility.   I use social media marketing to generate leads and then my customer care staff follow up and book potential customers into our various products.  A mixture of high touch and high tech.

11. What is next for your business?

A. We have just started offering full-day master your mind workshops and online monthly mentoring sessions for those that have completed the workshop.  In the third quarter, we are launching our online shop so that our work will be available to a wider audience at a much-reduced price point.

12. What advice would you give to female entrepreneurs hoping to start their own business?

A. Make sure you are clear as to what your core values are, what your UN goal is, and that your business is aligned with them. Connect with how you want to feel in your business, with your clients and your staff. Set realistic goals for each quarter with measurable promotion plans and make sure you have a coach or mentor to hold you accountable so as to keep you focused and on track.
